MARTINS?FERRY -Holy Grounds Cafe is pleased to welcome Jane Schockey to the stage on Thursday, March 7. The coffeehouse is open from 79:30 p.m. An open mic session will run for the first hour, so any musicians looking to perform a couple of songs in front of a live audience should come early to sign up. Schockey will take the stage shortly after 8 p.m.
Bellaire resident Jane Schockey has been writing songs for well over a decade, and she plays guitar, ukulele, and various woodwinds. Her sound is mostly folk with some pop and blues thrown in, and she is heavily influenced by women songwriters like Sheryl Crow, Carol King, and Jennifer Knapp.
Schockey notes, "I love listening to poetic lyrics and soulful vocals. My own lyrics are dominated by my relationship with God; however, my songs deal with human relationships and finding divine intervention in them."
David and Lisa Buckingham, who run Holy Grounds Cafe, are pleased to welcome Schockey back to the stage.
Says Lisa Buckingham, "Jane is a dear friend as well as a gifted musician. We're certain the evening will be wonderful!"
Hot and cold drinks and a variety of snacks are available for a minimal donation. There is also a pool table, foosball table, and free WiFi. There is no cover charge, and the atmosphere is casual and very relaxed.
