ERECTED 100 years ago, this marker in Harrisville relates information about Confederate Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan who with his "Dixie Cavaliers" entered Jefferson County in 1863. He was captured a few days later in Columbiana County. The dashing officer and his forces were attempting to reach the Ohio River so they could escape to the South.
