STANTON, Anna H., 98 years old, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24th, 2013 at Orchard Manor Sunshine Way, Grove City, Pa., where she was a resident since 2010. Anna was a lifetime resident of Martins Ferry, Ohio.
She was a pioneer in the steel industry where she was the first female crane operator in the United States. She retired from Wheeling Steel in 1972 after 31 years.
Anna was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose, Mary and Helen, her son-in-law, Joseph Snider, her ex-husband, Jon Kinosz, and second husband, Hugh Stanton.
Anna was a goodhearted, generous, feisty, and hardworking woman. She was a world traveler. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her daughter: Anna Mae Snider, four grandchildren: Marianne (Jeff), Cathy, Jon (Carolyn), and Jodie, and four great-grandchildren: Bethany, Jarrett, Jenna and Paige. She also leaves behind her step-sister, Josephine and step-brother, Frank. Anna loved Polka music, bingo and helping others. Her cream puffs and thumbprint cookies are legendary.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Anna and celebrate her life on Tuesday, March 26, from 4-9 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Reverend Tom Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
