Harrison avenges lone setback by toppling Buckeye

CADIZ - Harrison Central avenged its lone loss of the season here Thursday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over visiting Buckeye Local in baseball action Mazeroski Field.

The Huskies (12-1) scored three times in the bottom of the first and never looked back as Ryan Rose and Drew Horn teamed on a 3-hitter. Rose, who got the win, fanned four, as did Horn, who came on in relief in the sixth to earn the save.

Kalub Mitchell singled twice and doubled to pace Harrison Central's 12-hit attack. Dalton Rutter and Dustin Redish had two singles each. Nick Staten doubled.

Jonathan Borkoski slugged a solo home run for the Panthers (6-8). Austin Marshall, who suffered his first setback in five decisions, struck out five and walked one.

Harrison Central plays at Indian Creek today. Buckeye local is at Union Local.

Magnolia 9, Monroe Central 7

At Woodsfield, the Blue Eagles ran their record to an impressive 17-1 with their win over the homestanding Seminoles (6-8).

Kordell Antill hit a 3-run homer and two singles for Monroe central. Tanner Burkhart had a trio of base knocks that produced a run, and Bryan Duffy singled in a run. Jacob Black had two one-base raps.

The Seminoles visit Caldwell today.
