Bellaire police nab fugitive from Pa.

BELLAIRE - Acting on a tip, Bellaire police officers apprehended a fugitive from Pennsylvania on Friday.

Police Chief Mike Kovalyk noted that his department received intelligence pointing to a Joshua Watson (Chi Chi), was staying at an apartment in the 5200 block of Atcheson Rd.

This tip came in a few weeks ago and the department monitored the situation why waiting for a full extradition warrant to be issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Senior Patrol Officer J.J. Watson and Lt. William Shallcross worked quickly to apprehend Watson, without issue, and transport him to the Belmont County Jail to await extradition back to Pennsylvania.

Watson was wanted on a felony parole violation and was also considered an escape risk with violent tendencies. The report stated that Watson was allegedly known to abuse drugs.

"Officer Watson and Lt. Shallcross worked to apprehend Watson in an area which represented minimal risk and danger to innocent bystanders," said Kovalyk, lauded the work of his officers.

Kovalyk also noted that his department has seen in increase recently in out-of-state suspects being arrested.
