Sargus hands down sentences

ST. CLAIRSVIILE Numerous pleas were heard and sentences handed down during Monday's session of Belmont County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Jennifer L. Sargus presided.

Charles Adam Clifford, 29, 703 Adams St., Martins Ferry, pleaded guilty to two charges of trafficking in drugs, amended to misdemeanors of the first degree, occurring Feb. 12, 2012. He was given two years of community controls, 45 days in jail with credit for 13 served.

Brandon Michael Elliott, 22, 41 East 34th St., Shadyside, currently in EOCC, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Feb. 25, 2013. Sentence was set for May 28. He faces a maximum of 12 months.

Lawrence Michael Freeman, 47, incarcerated, was sentenced to six months EOCC for driving under the influence, a felony of the third degree occurring Dec. 6, 2012. His license was suspended five years. He will enter a program in his home state of Indiana.

Samantha Jean Fisher, 31, Trinity Hospital, 4000 Johnson Road, Steubenville, was sentenced to one year in jail, credit for nine months, and 18 months community controls. She was convicted of possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree occurring April 7, 2011.

Brian Eric Getzlaff, 25, 65227 Porterfield Road, St. Clairsville, was given a six month suspended sentence and two years of monitoring. He was charged with one count of theft, a felony of the fifth degree occurring April 4, 2012. He will continue payments on restitution orders.

Christopher David Harding, 42, incarcerated, was given a sentence of nine months, three to be spent in jail, six EOCC, and two years community controls. He was convicted of theft, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Dec. 8, 2011.

Gay Denise Skolnik, 41, 71430 Hall St., St. Clairsville, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, a felony of the fourth degree occurring March 12, 2013. Sentence was set for June 10.

Raymond Lewis Sulek, 70, 46827 E. Almar Circle, St. Clairsville, was sentenced to 60 days with credit for time served. He was convicted of a fourth OVI within the last six years, a felony of the fourth degree occurring Nov. 14, 2012. His license was suspended for three years and his vehicle forfeited.

David Allen Fields, 36, incarcerated in Lebanon Correctional Institute on a separate charge, was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to one count illegal conveyance of marijuana into a detention facility, a felony of the third degree occurring Nov. 14, 2012. Pre-trial was set for June 10, with plea agreement July 8 and trial July 25.
