REED, Clurney "Ed," 83, of Beallsville, passed away Sunday in OVMC, Wheeling.
He was born May 28, 1929 in Monroe County, a son of the late Clurney and Lydia Carpenter Reed.
Ed was a retired employee of Blaney Lumber and a farmer, also a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post 768. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Gates Reed; an infant son, Todd; and five sisters, Vivian Gillespie, Lou McLaughlin, Martha Rosso, Eva Decker, and Harriet Gross.
Surviving are three sons, Tim Reed (Dixie Lucas) and Terry Reed, both of Beallsville, and Eddie (Julie) Reed of Flushing; two daughters, Tammy (Sam) Horvath of Richmond, and Debbie Reed of LA; two sisters, Fern Ackerman and Shirley Headley, both of Woodsfield; four grand children, Shardae Reed, Aimee Horvath, Steven and Rachel Reed; a daughter- in-law, Tammy Reed; several nieces and nephews Visitation today 6-9 p.m. at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Burial follows in Beallsville Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 768.
