Mother's Day is just around the corner, which comes with the question of what to get mom? Just like birthdays and Christmas, finding the perfect gift can always be the hardest part. But for Mother's Day, it's a different story, what do you get for the woman who gave you life and has dealt with you every single day of your life?
There are always the old stand-bys like flowers, jewelry or a coupon for a massage, but what if you want to do something really unique?
This is actually something I, myself, am dealing with. I am the type of gift giver who gives that person something they need or will use, rather then give something that is useless and will sit in the corner. But this is not always the best gift or even the most thoughtful.
So while jewelry or flowers are always an option, but what if you want to give your mother something that was unique. Something that shows your really put thought into your gift. One of the best I ever gave my mother was a personalized picture frame. My mother has always loved photos and has tons of them all around her house. After my grandfather, her father, died I found a website that specializes in engraved picture frames and for Mother's Day that year I bought her one with grandfather's picture, name, date of birth and death. I still have not been able to top that gift.
I always lean towards the personalized gifts more because they are, well, more personal, more thought out. There are dozens upon dozens of websites and stores that specialize in personalized objects, just make sure to order in advance so that the gift is there by Mother's Day. Some of the personalized items that can be found on these websites are blankets, mugs or stepping stones.
If you really want to give your mom a gift that is more from the heart, rather then the internet, try a handmade gift. Remember the days, when we would make gifts for mom in school out of construction paper, popsicle sticks or macaroni?
The upside to these gifts were that they were personal, had thought behind them and overall, cheap. So going back to the internet, there are tons of sites with ideas and how - to guides on making handmade gifts that are easy, creative and cheap.
If you are not the craftiest person or strapped for time, then there is always the website Etsy, where handmade items are sold. Etsy contains unique gifts, ranging from handmade jewelry, paintings and clothing and furniture. The items such as bracelets, rings and necklaces can be engraved with names or initials. Majority of these items are affordable on almost any budget.
