Man dies in Belmont crash

A MAN was pronounced dead at the scene of a one-vehicle crash on Coen Road, south of Glencoe, on Monday at 3:35 p.m.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a preliminary investigation showed that a Daihatsu UTV 4x4, driven by James F. Albanese III, 44, last known address of Barton, was northbound on Coen Road and failed to negotiate a curve to the right.,

The vehicle went off the right side of the road, overturned down an embankment and struck a tree.

Albanese was ejected from the vehicle which came to rest approximately 100 feet down the embankment.

Albanese was pronounced dead at the scene by the Belmont County Coroner. According to the report, Albanese was not wearing a seatbelt.

Responding to the scene were troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, St. Clairsville, medical personnel from Cumberland Trail Fire Department and the Smith Township Emergency Squad and the Belmont County Coroner.

The incident is still under investigation.
