Davis fires six TD passes in win

AMARILLO, Tx. - Even a few weeks off didn't hurt Nate Davis.

The former Bellaire High and Ball State standout fired six touchdown passes Saturday night in leading Amarillo (4-1) to a 63-41 triumph over visiting Abilene (3-3) in Lone Star Football League action on Coors Light Field inside the Amarillo Civic Center.

Davis hit on 19 of 37 passes for 196 yards.

He threw four of his 6-point passes to Doug Williams. His other two went to Raymond Johnson.

In addition, the 6-3, 220-pounder ran twice for 29 yards and also made a team-high three solo tackles on defense.

The Venom are back in action Sunday at 3:05 p.m. when they play the Laredo Rattlesnakes inside the Laredo Energy Arena. Amarillo won 62-58 on April 20 without Davis.
