The Ohio High School Athletic Association's referendum vote on competitive balance was defeated by a slim 327-308 margin. Voting wrapped up on Wednesday at 4:30 and the OHSAA announced the results Thursday afternoon. The 19 votes is the smallest margin of defeat yet for the process, which is in its third year.
There were 191 schools that didn't vote. However, four ballots were deemed invalid and 27 arrived at OHSAA headquarters in Columbus past the deadline.
