MINGO JUNCTION -- Drake A. Burton, 20, of Steubenville was arrested around 5 a.m. today following a manhunt that began Thursday afternoon with a shooting at 122 Union Ave. in Mingo Junction.
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said three men dressed like utility workers, with vests and a tool box, knocked on the door of the Union Avenue home around 2:30 p.m.
A 2-year-old child answered the door and the men went inside, the sheriff said.
The men once inside demanded money and forced Mike Gray, 27, to open a safe, Abdalla said, adding there wasnt much money inside it.
The three men then used duct tape to tie up a woman, Yolanda Cronin, 23, of the residence, the 2-year-old and a 13-year-old. Gray also was secured with the tape, Abdalla said.
The two children and Cronin then were struck with a gun about the head, Abdalla said. Gray was shot in the thigh area, the sheriff said.
All four were transported to Trinity Medical Center West, with Gray and the 2-year-old being flown by medical helicopter to Pittsburgh hospitals. The 2-year-old had a concussion, Abdalla said.
The three intruders got into a getaway vehicle and drove to Steubenville, where Abdalla said the men got out in the area of Dock and North Fourth streets. The getaway vehicle was stopped around 3 p.m. by Steubenville Police in the 100 block of South Fourth Street. Abdalla said a 17-year-old female, who police believe was driving the vehicle to and from Mingo Junction, was taken into custody.
