CADIZ - Now that it has a full compliment of players following Harrison Central's run to the Division II state semifinals, Cadiz Post 34 is playing some fine baseball.
Wednesday night at Robert Mazeroski Field in Sally Buffalo Park, the hosts (4-2) rolled past Toronto Post 86 (1-9) by a 4-1 count.
Bellaire senior-to-be Nick Patrone was the difference on the mound as he struck out 10 and walked just one. He scattered six hits.
Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the fourth, Post 34 struck for three runs as Rashaen Mitchell's double plated Patrone, who had singled. Dustin Rath followed with a single that chased home Mitchell. Chase Hopkins' RBI single completed the outburst.
Cadiz added an insurance marker in the sixth, but Patrone wouldn't need it.
Mitchell and Hopkins each singled and doubled.
