Judge Frank A. Fregiato has been selected as the 2013 recipient of the Denny Magruder Distinguished Service Award by the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

He will be honored during the 10th annual OVAC Hall of Fame Induction Banquet which is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.

Fregiato began his association with the OVAC in 1977 with the OVAC Foundation as well as the conference as a whole. He has provided legal services and as an advisor ever since, for a total of 36 years.

"Judge Fregiato has been a long-time ally of the conference for as long as I can remember," said OVAC Executive Secretary/Treasurer Thomas E. Rataiczak. "When we needed help regarding legal matters, he was the first person contacted. Since I came on as Executive Secretary in 1999, he has been an invaluable source of guidance not only in solving my dilemmas, but in explaining to me what was agreed upon during Sam Mumley's administration. His honest, no-nonsense approach has made muddy waters crystal clear on more than one occasion. He has been a true friend of the OVAC."

Fregiato is a graduate of Martins Ferry High School. He received his B.A. degree from The Ohio State University with Political Science Honors and Phi Betta Kappa honors. He received his law degree from OSU, graduating in the top five percent with Order of the Coif honors.

He is currently Judge of the Northern Division County Court in Bellaire and a partner in the law firm Fregiato, Myser & Davies of Bridgeport.

Judge Fregiato established the "Live Court to Our High Schools" program, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the country to demonstrate to the youth that there are consequences for one's actions.

Fregiato and his wife Cynthia reside in St. Clairsville. They have two children (Tessa and Dustin) and two grandsons (Dominic and Vincent).

Previous winners of the Distinguished Service Award include Denny Magruder (2010), Bob Robinson (2011) and Carpenters Local #3 of Wheeling (2012).

Tickets for the 10th Annual OVAC Hall of Fame Banquet are now on sale through the OVAC office. Tickets are $30 each or $240 for a table of eight. No tickets will be sold at the door.
