THE EAGLE has landed, and he or she, at left, is keeping watch over a nest in Eastern Ohio. The number of bald eagles is increasing throughout the United States, and eagles no longer are on the federal endangered species list. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the “bald eagle can be found in small concentrations throughout the U.S., particularly near sizeable bodies of water, natural and man-made.” It is estimated there were 210 nesting pairs in Ohio last year with 321 eaglets hatched.
