MARTINS FERRY - The city's famous annual fireworks display draws close to it's July 3 date. Gates will open at 5 p.m., with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. provided by Pyrotechnics by Presutti Inc.
The 24th annual celebration of Independence Day is expected to continue a tradition of high attendance and a fun family atmosphere.
This year's event will include a new feature for the convenience of attendees in a one-way shuttle service. The area marker is located at the bottom of Ayers Limestone Road.
Admission and parking is free, though donations will be accepted. VIP parking is $10 with spaces near the administrative building. VIP tickets can be purchased in advance at the Chamber of Commerce office or the night of the event.
This year's musical entertainment will be a collaboration of some of the Ohio Valley's prominent musicians, including Dan Jones, Roger Hoard, Chad Smith, Dustin Kinsey, and Brian Dawes. Jones is known for his multi-instrumental performances on fiddle, guitar, harmonics, and vocals. Hoard takes up the guitar and Smith will be playing drums and performing on vocals. The fireworks display will be visible across the Ohio Valley. Shows are typically 25 minutes long.
The Chamber of Commerce is currently selling 50/50 tickets that will be drawn the night of the event.
