WOODSFIELD - A motion to authorize the Monroe County Care Center to increase the price of meals provided to prisoners at the county jail was approved Monday by the county commissioners.
The center had been charging $2.25 for each meal provided to the prisoners, and the price is being raised to $3 a meal.
Several persons were appointed to the Local Emergency Planning Commission. Included are County Commissioner Carl Davis, John Stevens, Scott Seebach and Jeremy Taylor, all of Lewiville, as well as Robin Groves and Carol Hehr, both of Woodsfield.
In other matters, Jeff and Joseph Kindle of Sardis, representing Crystal Broadband, a privately owned cable company, asked for a letter of support for the company's next project, which is to bring broadband to Cameron. Commissioners took action to approve the letter of support.
As requested by Jeanette Harter of the Monroe County Department of Job and Family Services, commissioners approved a contract with MACO to provide janitorial services at the DJFS building at a cost of $9,000 a year.
Harter and commissioners were in an executive session about personnel. After that session, a motion was OK'd to move Michelle Smith from part-time to full-time as telephone receptionist at the DJFS.
A motion to close the courthouse Thursday because of the Fourth of July holiday was given approval.
