A new phase that was added to the United Way of Jefferson County this spring was the "2-1-1" free and confidential information and referral system, linking persons in need of information, to a variety of assistance agencies, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. This system is a priceless asset for persons in need of emergency assistance. It also relieves the financial burden and stress on a number of our local help agencies.
"It is our hope that our friends who belong to the Jefferson Society will continue their generous and faithful support," states Anita Jackson, the Chair of the Jefferson Society for the past eight years, "It is extremely rewarding to witness such a wave of generosity that continues year after year among our leadership donors," she concluded.
The Society will hold their annual "thank you" gathering at the home of Derek and Lisa Ferguson on Sept. 5. The event that is titled "Jazz In The Garden," will feature the music of Dr. Francis Sunseri and his band.
