CARCIONE, Samuel

CARCIONE, Samuel Frank, 96, of Wheeling, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Liza's Place, Wheeling.

Samuel was born April 2, 1917 in Wheeling, a son of the late Salvatore and Rose Florio Carcione.

He was a retired railroad conductor for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, past commander of the West Virginia 1st Distric VFW, 10 year commander of the VFW Post 825, member of the National VFW Aide De Camp, past commander of the American Legion Post 1, life member of the VFW, life member of the American Legion Post 1, life member of the Cave Club, 45 year member of the Eagles, assisted in organizing the Steel Workers Union under John L. Lewis and a U.S. Marine Veteran, who served in WWII.

In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Tina Namlik Carcione; grandson, Scott A. Yoho; five sisters, Frances Pagot, Theresa Howell, Josephine Olive, Agnes Feeney and Mary Marchelenski; three brothers, Rocco, James and Lawrence Carcione.

Surviving are his children, Samuel (Linda) Carcione of Palm Coast, FL, Cassandra (Angelo) Spigarelli of Bellaire, OH, Rose Marie (Joseph) DeBias of South Charleston, WV, Sheri Clarke of Wheeling, Deborah Kotlas of Wheeling and Kimberly (Robert) Schmitt of St. Clairsville, OH; sister, Angela Clarke of Lorain, OH; four granddaughters; six grandsons; step grandson and seven great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 16 at 11am at St.Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling with Rev.John P. Mulcahy serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mt.Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
