REED, Paul “Reedy"

REED, Paul "Reedy," 72, of Barnesville died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Ohio Valley Medical Center.

He was born on June 15, 1941 in Moundsville, WV.

Reedy was very active in the Barnesville community. For 30 years, he kept clock for Barnesville athletics of all age levels. He was a member of the Somerton Church of Christ, Barnesville Boosters Organization, the 200 Club, Barnesville Park Board, Kiwanis Club and many different Pumpkin Festival committees. The OHSAA honored him with a state award for exemplary service to the youth of Ohio. Paul was also influential in getting the Beast of the East Baseball tournament in Barnesville.

In addition to his parents, Kenny Shimp and Helen (Sivert) Shimp-Gould, he was preceded in death by a son, Andy Reed; a daughter, Paula Jo Reed; and two brothers, Bill and Jerry Shimp.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sandra "Tiny" Reed; three daughters: Sandra (Blake) Kilburn of Lewisville, Michelle (Doug) McLaughlin of Barnesville and Jennifer (Stacy) Castello of Barnesville; nine grandchildren: Boomer Reed, Shantel Zwick, Beth Knowlton, Samantha Habig, Erica Fritter, Brawn McLaughlin, Madison McLaughlin, Blake Castello and Duker Castello; and five great-grandchildren: Jozie and Bryant Zwick, Zoey and Aleia Fritter and Kinsley Knowlton.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 1-8 p.m. at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville, Ohio. The service will be on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Evangelist Kim McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery.
