By Staff Reports , Times Leader

As the high school football season draws closer, teams are amping their preparation toward game situations.

A pair of OHSAA Jamboree games are slated for the area.

This Thursday, at the Dave Bruney Football Complex in Martins Ferry, the Purple Riders will host Shadyside in a jamboree style scrimmage, which will incorporate the junior high, freshmen, jayvees and varsity players along with both schools' marching bands.

The event will begin with the seventh grades playing for 40 minutes at 5 p.m. The eighth graders will begin at 5:45 and the freshmen begin at 6:30.

Each band will then perform for 10 minutes and the varsity scrimmage will begin at 7:50 p.m. and run for 40 minutes.

None of the scrimmages will include kicking. All drives will begin on the 30-yard line.

There will be a $5 admission charge.

ON FRIDAY, Barnesville will host Beallsville in both teams' final tuneup for the season openers.

The action will begin at 6 p.m. with the seventh and eighth grade squads playing one half. The jayvee squads will then compete and the varsity teams will wrap up the evening.

Also on tap, are performances by the Barnesville Marching Band and both schools' cheerleaders.

The cost to get into the game is $4.
