KENNON, Donald J., 89, a resident of the Country Club Retirement Community, formerly of West Bellaire, OH died Thursday August 22, 2013 at Acuity Hospital, Bellaire.
He was born January 10, 1924 in Bethesda, OH a son of the late Clarence and Ethyl Bolen Kennon.
Donald was a retired employee of the Ormet Corporation and a Methodist by faith. He was a member of Bellaire American Legion Post # 52, Shadyside Lodge # 724 F & AM, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio # 107 and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII having served in 125th AAA Battalion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Decker Kennon in June of 1984; an infant daughter, Darlene Kennon; three sisters, Waneta Brazek, Lucille Kennon and Mae Turner; a brother, Willis Kennon; and his long time companion, Virginia Williams.
Surviving are a daughter, Diana L. LaRoche of Bellaire; a son, Terry (Diana) Kennon of St. Clairsville, OH; a sister, Mary Angus of Toronto, OH; five grandchildren, Jayson, Jocelyn and Chelsea LaRoche, Daniel and Nathan Kennon.
Friends will be received Saturday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bauknecht - Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire where services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Eric White officiating. Burial follows in Davis Cemetery, Bellaire.
Belmont County Council of American Legions will conduct full military honors Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
