Huskies win first contest; St. C. girls defeat Weir

SCIO - The Harrison Central boys' soccer team won its first-ever varsity game here Saturday with a 4-1 decision over visiting Indian Creek.

Eric Sheets' Huskies (1-0-1) received three goals off the foot of freshman Conner Pecar. Older brother, Geoff, a senior, added a penalty kick.

Freshman goalkeeper Logan Starr stopped three of the four shots the Redskins (1-1) fired at him.

GIRLS

St. Clairsville 3, Weir 1

At Weirton, senior Eberle Ferrell scored twice and assisted on the third goal as the Red Devils (1-0) debuted impressively under first-year head coach Wes Stoner.

Taryn Barr the other St. Clairsville net-finder. Carlee Gillespie and Haley Callarik charted assists.

Brianna Sowers stood tall in net, stopping nine of 10 shots by the Red Riders (0-1).
