CONNORVILLE Steubenville Big Red defeated the home standing Buckeye Local Panthers in four sets 25-18, 25-9, 25-28 and 25-20 in OVAC volleyball action Monday evening.
It looked like the visitors were going to sweep their hosts after a quick second set, but Buckeye Local was not ready to concede the match.
"We lost our intensity level," said Big Red coach Lynn Meyer of the third game. "We had some errors, and we got down on ourselves. We have to learn to continue to play when we get ourselves into those situations."

"We were down tonight, but we are a better team than that," said first year Buckeye Local head coach Janelle Windsheimer who was a little disappointed in her Panthers. "When we show up to play as a team, we can compete, we are capable."
Buckeye Local took an early lead and looked like it was well on its way to winning the third set 19-14, but the Big Red came back to even the score at 20 apiece and the two battled on from there to a deadlock at 25.
The Panthers had missed opportunities with errors earlier in the contest but this time they pulled together for the 27-25 win.
The third set was to be another battle but the Big Red made plays when they counted and avoided the rubber match pulling away to take home the win.
