Sex cases continued at common pleas

ST. CLAIRSVILLE Several sex-related cases were continued to better review legal concerns during Friday's session of Belmont County Common Pleas Court. Judge John M. Solovan II presided.

David Curtis Crawford, 39, 54129 Powhatan Hill Road, Powhatan Point, saw his trial and plea agreement deadline continued generally and a status conference set for Sept. 27. He is accused of four counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, a felony of the second degree, and two counts of voyeurism, a felony of the fifth degree, occurring Jan. 1, 2013. If convicted, Crawford would be classified as a Tier 2 and Tier 1 offender.

Christopher Schramm, 29, 401 N. Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, saw the continuation of his trial until Oct. 17 and his plea agreement deadline until Sept. 27. He is charged with gross sexual imposition, a felony of the third degree occurring Aug. 1, 2011.

Justin Michael Archer, 613 Ivy Lane, Martins Ferry, saw a new trial date set. He is accused of four counts of rape, a felony of the first degree occurring March 1, 2013. His trial date is Nov. 12, with plea agreement deadline set for Oct. 25 and a status conference Sept. 27.

Tierney Sue Uchbar, 22, 189 Jane Avenue, Wheeling, saw the revocation of her community controls after failing to report and admitting to consuming drugs. She was originally convicted of theft of a firearm, a felony of the third degree occurring Sept. 17, 2011. She was sentenced to 18 months but Solovan had no objected to her release to an intensive prison program or halfway house. He recommended her sentence be served concurrent with an upcoming sentence through another court.

Jason Bernard Herman, 38, 55551 Bloomingdale St., Bridgeport, will go to trial Oct. 1 after rejecting a plea agreement.

He is accused of three counts of felonious assault, each a felony of the second degree occurring Sept. 9, 2012. Each carries a firearm specification for an added three years. Herman is also accused of discharging a firearm, which carries a sentence of 30 months, for a maximum total sentence of 30 years.

Tamara Lynn Strader, 36, 112 Gail Avenue, Bethesda, pleaded guilty to one count forgery, a felony of the fifth degree occurring Dec. 11, 2012, and one count theft of checks. Sentence was set for Oct. 25. EOCC and Crossroads evaluations were ordered.

Ryan Johnson, 23, 3342 Guernsey St., Bellaire, pleaded guilty to burglary, a felony of the third degree occurring April 24, 2013. Sentence was set for Oct. 25. A pre-sentence investigation, victim impact statement, EOCC and Crossroads evaluations were ordered. He faces a maximum of 36 months.
