Monroe officials act on contracts

WOODSFIELD - Action was taken on three contracts Monday by the Monroe County commissioners, and these pacts involved an engineering study, a roof repair and Internet servcies.

Jack Becker representing H.E. Neumann of Wheeling presented a mechanical services contract in regard to an engineering study of all county buildings, and he explained the company's services. As a result of commissioners' action, a representative of that firm will return and do the study.

A motion was approved to sign a contract with Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal of Wheeling to do some roof repair at the Monroe County Care Center at a cost of $700.

Commissioners also signed a service agreement with Horizon, Chillicothe, for Internet services with the cost being $19,571.60.

In other matters, Dog Warden Ronda Piatt requested an executive session in regard to personnel. After that session, commissioners approved a motion to hire Jacqueline Gillman as a temporary, part-time call-in employee at the dog pound.

The July financial report from the care center was presented when David Lucid, Andrea Cullinan and Greg Johnson, center representatives, met with commissioners. Cullinan, who is care center administrator, asked for an executive session concerning personnel. No action was taken in that regard after the session.

Bob Tschappat, representing the Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley, and Pam Bishop, who is in charge of insurance in the county auditor's office were present, and he explained changes and updates in the 2014 health plan policy.

He had no information about rates or fees for 2014.
