SCIO - Harrison Central girls soccer fell 3-1 to Cambridge on Thursday afternoon on Dr. James Z. Scott Memorial Field but even the second half downpour could not dampen the spirits of Huskies coach Scott Ward.
Trailing 1-0 the Huskies Sara Waggoner evened the score with a goal at the 23:07 mark in the half.
"Cambridge is an established program and this is our first year so I have to say that I am pleased," said Ward. "We have come a long way since our first practice, we still have a long way to go but we improve at something each week and we are making headway."
The Bobcats placed one in the left corner of the net late in the first half then taking advantage of the Huskies goalie battling the heavy rain on her glasses posted an easy roller accounting for the 3-1 final tally.
"Defensively we made some mistakes but we played physical,' Ward added. "We might be 0-6 but as long as I continue to see improvement, we continue to hustle and work hard, I would have to say overall I am happy."
The Huskies return to Scio Saturday afternoon hosting Edison.
