Ferry sweeps UL

Martins Ferry warmed up for its triangular volleyball match tonight with Bellaire and Buckeye Trail by sweeping past homestanding Union Local Tuesday night by scores of 25-6, 25-17 and 26-24.

The Purple Riders were led by Katie Southerland with 13 points and six aces. Tyrah King added seven kills, while Shaye DeLeonardis had 13 points, six aces and eight assists.

Leaders for the Jets (4-7) were Anna Jo Nardo with 10 points, two aces and seven assists. Clark-Patterson had eight kills and seven blocks and Earliwine had 12 digs.

Caldwell defeats Shadyside

At Shadyside, the Redskins swept the host Tigers, winning by scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-13.

Caldwell was led by Lexy Schell's 15 points, three aces and three kills. Maddy Burris added eight points, three aces and eight kills. Alyssa Leasure donated 16 assists.

The Tigers, meanwhile, was led by Sam Rosser and Emily Baughn's three points. Kenzie Fielding added four kills and three blocks.

Linsly tops Central

At Wheeling, the Cadets defeated the Maroon Knights in a marathon match by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 21-25, 25-23 and 15-13.

Linsly stat leaders were Cheyenne Scherich 32 points, two aces, seven kills and 18 digs; Miah Runkle 24 points, five aces, two kills, 21 digs and 46 serve receive; Cari Ferguson 15 points, two aces and13 assists; Allie Deschamps 11 points and two kills; Katie McGonigal 11 points and 10 kills; Rachel Haak 10 points, two aces and15 assists; and Faith Zwicker seven kills and three blocks; and Katie Spurrier five digs.

Indian Creek sweeps Buckeye Local

At Wintersville, the Redskins won their eighth straight match by scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-17 over visiting Buckeye Local.

The Redskins wrapped up the Buckeye 8 league title with a victory with a 6-0 record in league play. Indian Creek holds the tiebreaker on Edison as a result of the Redskins victory against the Wildcats Sept. 3 at Edison.

Morgan Staten netted nine points, four aces, and 11 digs for the Panthers. Becky Zeroksi and Preslie Renforth each recorded five digs.

River drains Valley

At Hannibal, the host Pilots rolled by the Lumberjills by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-18 as Amanda Bennett had 19 points, including nine aces.

Mackenzie Marshall added 10 points and six aces for the Pilots, who also received a full night from Jensen Caretti (13 points, four aces, nine kills, and four digs).

Leading the way for the Lumberjills was Sarah Bassett with seven points and seven assists. Erin Brown (nine) and Rachal Baker (10) combined for 19 blocks.

Buckeye Trail downs Monroe Central

At Old Washington, the host Warriors swept past the Seminoles by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-12.

Kelsey Beros had 19 points, three aces, seven digs, and seven kills as she led Buckeye Trail. Josie Hensley added eight points, five digs and 10 kills.

Leading the way for Monroe Central was Carly Baker with nine points and six digs.
