TILTONSVILLE - Residents of Tiltonsville have gained access to a more convenient post office location.

Express Auto, located at 115 Third St. now hosts a Village Post Office. Operated by the management, village post offices can be hosted in a variety of locations, such as convenience stores, libraries, gas stations, or other government entities.

VPOs offer most products and services available in regular post offices, including mail collection boxes, stamps, and pre-paid envelopes. Generally, VPOs are open for longer hours than regular post offices. The United States Postal Service announced the first Village Post Office back in 2011, and the Tiltonsville VPO is the seventh to open in Ohio. It will be open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tim Robb, manager of Express Auto, says that this VPO is a "great opportunity for our business to provide the community and our customers with more access to stamps and mailing services", and he is excited about the new services.

Business owners who are interested in opening their own VPO can contact vpo.inquiry@usps.gov or call 888-711-7577.

After a short approval process, Postal Service workers will train business owners and their employees how to operate a Village Post Office. The Postal Service will also cover initial costs for opening a VPO, such as signage and supplies.
