SJC, River win in D-IV?action

• St. C. eliminates Monroe in D-III

BARNESVILLE - A pair of OVAC volleyball champions advanced here Tuesday night in Division IV Sectional Tournament action at Barnesville High School.

In the opener, St. John Central (18-4) defeated Bridgeport (14-9) by scores of 25-18, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-20 as Lindsee Perry scored 16 points, charted six kills and three digs. She also served four aces.

Amber LaMotte added nine points and a pair of aces to pace the Class A titlist Irish, while Karlee Vostatek had eight points, eight assists and five aces. Sydney Helms chipped in six points, 18 assists and a pair of digs. Lindsay Froehlich contributed nine kills and seven blocks.

Leading the Bulldogs were Amber Millard with 13 points, 12 digs, 12 kills and two assists. Alyssa Crook added 11 markers, 29 assists and two aces, while Briana Massey and Maclaine Murad evenly divided 10 points, with Massey adding nine kills and Murad four kills. Cheyenne Flowers had three points, 12 digs and 15 kills.

In the other match, River (15-8), which won the AA title, knocked out Frontier by scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-13 and 25-23 as Mackenzie Wade had 22 points and 15 digs. Monica Curtis and Amanda Bennett each tallied 14 points, with Curtis charting 32 assists and 15 digs, while Bennett registered four digs. Jensen Caretti donated 12 points, 11 digs, 28 kills and a trio of blocks. Brissa Marshall scored 11 points and had nine digs, while Mackenzie Marshall added nine points and 22 digs.

St. John Central and River will meet Saturday at noon with a district tournament berth on the line.

D-II at St. Clairsville

Carrollton d. Buckeye Local

At St. Clairsville High School, the Warriors (20-3) swept past the Panthers (3-18) by scores of 25-8, 25-7 and 25-11 on John Jenkins Court.

Nicolette Devore led Buckeye Local with two points, two kills and four assists. Morgan Fedorko added two kills and Morgan Staten had two kills and 10 digs. Lexus Fedorko contributed five assists and three digs, while Becky Zeroski had 10 digs.

D-III Sectional at Byesville

St. Clairsville d. Monroe Central

At Meadowbrook High School, the Red Devils ousted the Seminoles by scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16 behind 17 points, nine kills and two blocks by Alexis St. Clair.

Brigee Mick added 11 points and 10 kills, while Gabbie Espen had 27 assists. Rebecca Sadowski had seven points and six kills. Summer Gallentine had 12 digs.

Monroe Central was led by Carly Baker with seven points and 12 digs. Katelynn Dimmerling finished with four points and eight assists. Kelsey Dick added nine digs and eight kills. Erin Miller had nine digs and five kills.

Buckeye Trail d. Bellaire

At Meadowbrook High School, the Warriors (18-5) continued their fine season by eliminating the Big Reds (8-13) by scores of 27-25, 25-9 and 25-10.

Lexe Starr led Buckeye Trail with 20 kills. She also was 11-of-13 serving with eight points (one ace); was 9-of-9 passing; notched six digs and three blocks.

For Bellaire, Morgan Runyan tallied 11 points and charted 14 digs; Mary Garloch scored seven points, handed out nine assists and had seven digs; Elisha Gillespie had eight points (one ace), five kills and a trio of blocks; and Melissa Cordy and Hunter Eden each scored six points each, with Cordy charting half-a-dozen kills and 10 digs; Eden added four kills and five digs; and Tori Duffy had five points and eight assists.
