NEWARK, Ohio - It was quite the afternoon in Newark for the Ohio University Eastern volleyball team Sunday as the Lady Panthers captured their first-ever Ohio Regional Campus State Volleyball title in grand style.
OUE, the No. 3 seed, was dominant from start to finish in downing second-seeded Miami-Hamilton in straight sets by the count of 28-26, 25-21 and 25-14 in the semifinals. They then knocked off top-seeded Ohio University-Lancaster by the scores of 27-25, 15-25, 25-18, 25-21 in the finals.
Coach Lindsay Piccolini's spikers were led by Monroe Central grads Alex Kuhn, Kayley Stephens, Chelsie Roberts, Kate Fickell and Melissa Stimpert. Kuhn, the tournament MVP, recorded 24 kills and fpur blocks on the day.

Stephens finished with 25 kills and nine blocks and was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts. Roberts registered 22 kills and three blocks, while Fickell had 13 kills and three blocks. Stimpert led the way with 26 assists.
"I could not be more proud of our team," Piccolini said. "We worked hard all season and it paid dividends today as we accomplished our goal on our biggest stage. It feels great to bring home a banner."
OUE finished the season with a 17-8 mark.
