TRAVIS, Robert (Bob) Richard

TRAVIS, Robert (Bob) Richard, 80, of Mozart, Wheeling, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Liza's Place, Wheeling.

He was born in Bellaire, OH on January 21, 1933, the son of the late George and Anna Chloris King Travis.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Benjamin Travis, Thurman Stapleton and Lionel Wilkinson and sisters, Patricia Travis, Lucille Sechrest, Betty Kreiter and Helen Osmianski.

Bob was a Lutheran and a member of St. James Church. He retired from the former Blow Knox Foundry after serving 34 years. He was active in the Machinists Union and served many years as president of Local 818. He was a member of the Iola Club, the American Legion Post 46 of Benwood and the VFW of Bellaire OH. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Trabert Travis; daughters, Karen Beaver and Joyce Lyrio- Takis of Wheeling; a son, Robert Travis, Jr and his wife, Dana of Lancaster, OH; three grandchildren, Kristen Lyrio-Takis and Jacob Wolfe of Wheeling, Joseph "JT" Travis of Lancaster, OH; a sister, Shirley Kidd of Heath OH and a brother, Bruce Travis of New Orleans, LA. His special buddy, Dale Beaver of Wheeling and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. It was Bob's desire to donate his body for research to the Human Gift Registry at WVU. His wishes were that family and friends gather for a celebration of his life which will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1409 Chapline St., Wheeling, WV, with Pastor Deborah Gable officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
