Benefit being planned for area woman

COLERAIN A benefit is being planned to help Amy Roberts with medical expenses incurred as a result of treatment for a condition called amyloidosis.

Amyloidosis is a disorder resulting from abnormal protein (amyloid) deposited in body tissues.

In Robert's case, the disorder has affected her heart, stomach and kidneys. She is undergoing treatment for this irreversible condition through UPMC in Pittsburgh.

She is a 42-year-old wife and mother of two young children. She was employed as the vice president/manager of the St. Clairsville branch of PNC Bank.

She's been an active and vital member of her community and her church, St. Frances Cabrini in Colerain.

Some of her activities and accomplishments include:

Past president and active member of the St. C. Rotary Club.

St. C. Downtown Revitalization Task Force

Founding member of the St. C. Farmer's Market

Downtown holiday shopping night

Belmont County 4-H

St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church parishioner, Eucharistic minister, CCD instructor and co-director of the Easter Passion mime program

Her benefit will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Shannon's Place on U.S. 250 in Colerain from 1-8 p.m.

Monetary donations, donations of items to be use for either theme baskets or raffles or donations of time to help with the benefit are being requested.

Tickets are available at From Past to Present Quilt Shop at 139 W. Main St. in St. Clairsville, which can be reached at (740) 526-9371 or from members of the committee. They are also available at St. Frances Cabrini on 2581 Colerain Rd. by calling Rev. Dale Tornes at (740) 635-9933.

Committee members ask you to be as generous as possible for this wonderful woman who has touched so many lives and has been such a vital part of the community.

Saturday, gift baskets created by the committee will be on sale from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. inside the Ohio Valley Mall in front of the Macy's entrance adjacent to Carmike Cinemas.
