Kroll’s double-double paces ’Dogs

WEIRTON - Caitlyn Kroll scored 23 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had four steals and two blocks Thursday night as Bridgeport ran its record to 7-0 with a 43-26 victory against Madonna in girls' high school basketball action at the Dubie Dome.

It was Bridgeport's second victory over Madonna in a week.

Nicole Smolenak added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who jumped out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter.

Maclaine Murad and Brianna Massey each grabbed five boards for Bridgeport.

Monica Bragg had eight points for the Blue Dons (1-2).

Beallsville 16

BEALLSVILLE - Sydney Ralston and Shayla Markovich both scored 14 points as Barnesville (5-2) continued its strong push with a victory against Beallsville.

Lane Bedford paced the Blue Devils (2-4) with seven points.

Fort Frye 53,

Monroe Central 39

WOODSFIELD - Megan Liedtke scored 20 points and six boards as Fort Frye topped Monroe Central.

The Cadets pulled away by outscoring the Seminoles 17-3 in the third quarter.

Monroe Central made 12 3-pointers in the game, while only producing one 2-pointer and one free throw..

Brooke Borich added 16 points for Fort Frye (4-1), while Shawntell Parsons had 10.

Allison Kuhn paced Monroe Central (4-3) with 15 points, while Annie Digity had 12.

John Marshall 65,

Union Local 57

MORRISTOWN - John Marshall outscored Union Local 15-6 in the fourth to rally past Union Local at ''The Hangar'' behind 15 points from Emily Winters and Abby Namath.

Bailey Filben added 14 points for the Monarchs (2-0), while Torie Derrow had 10.

Cori Medley again paced the Jets with 17 points. Mikayla Patton added 12 points and Amanda Swallie had 10.

BOYS

Valley 64,

East Richland 46

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Jack Wells scored 15 points and Valley posted 26 second-chance points in topping East Richland Christian.

Thirteen players scored for the Lumberjacks.
