SWALLIE, Ronald L.

SWALLIE, Ronald L., 92, of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday morning, December 30, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born December 23, 1921 in Jerusalem, Ohio.

Mr. Swallie was a member of East Main Street Church of Christ and a retired superintendent of the Ohio Department of Transportation.

He was a veteran of World War II where he served from 1943-1946 and was a Buck Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Friendship Lodge No. 89 and Scottish Rite Cambridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Betty Swallie (1/20/13); brothers, Kenneth Swallie, Kirk Swallie, and Larry Swallie; great- grandson, Cole Pryor; great-granddaughter, Haven Carpenter.

He is survived by daughters, Linda (Charles) Carpenter of Barnesville, Phyllis (Arthur) Reed of Barnesville, and Ellen (Robert) Ward of Westerville, Ohio; brother, Jim (Shirley) Swallie of Barnesville; sister, Virginia (Jim) Kearns of Kent, Ohio; grandchildren, Tina (Eugene) Gill, Connie (Brian) Koper, Steve (Kim) Carpenter, Brandon (Margaret) Ward, Nicole Reed, and Dustin (Shea) Reed; great- grandchildren, Andrea Edwards, Ashley Campbell, Chessie Bazzo, Cash Carpenter, Darby Carpenter, Elizabeth Ward, Ava Ward, Mackston Reed, Mayson Reed, and Madelyn Corona; and great-great- grand children, Alexis Edwards, Jacob Edwards, Alivia Campbell, Aniston Campbell, and Vincent Chiodi.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 5-9 p.m. at Campbell- Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio where the services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 1 p.m. with Ev. Val Roxby officiating.

Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery in Barnesville, Ohio. Masonic services will be conducted by Friendship Lodge No. 89 F&AM on Thursday at 5 p.m. American Legion Belmont County Council will conduct military services at the funeral home on Friday at 12:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey or the Barnesville East Main Street Church of Christ.
