River rolls by Shadyside

• Beallsville girls, SJC boys post wins

HANNIBAL - River's Jensen Caretti didn't set any milestones Thursday night, but she did outscore Shadyside.

The Lady Pilots promising 6-foot sophomore lit it up for 32 points - two more than the Lady Tigers - in a 59-30 romp inside the R.L. Potts Gymnasium.

Caretti, who also had five rebounds and sat out a good portion of the fourth quarter, knocked down 14 field goals and cashed in 4 of 6 free throws.

Landyn Ramsay added 11 points for River (9-4).

Toni Andes led Shadyside (1-9) with a dozen points.

River led 26-21 off the glass as Ramsay had six. Andes had half-a-dozen for Shadyside.

The Pilots set up a meeting with rival, and undefeated, Bridgeport Monday night in Hannibal. The Tigers trek to Philo the same night.

Shenandoah 53, Monroe Central 45

At Sarahsville, the host Zeps (6-5, 3-4 PVC) outscored the Seminoles (7-3) by a 15-4 margin in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Allison Kuhn pumped in 16 points for Monroe Central. Laycie Ball added 15.

The Seminoles are at Old Washington Monday to meet Buckeye Trail.

Bishop Doanhue 61, St. John 56

At McMechen, Kat Polinski scored 20 points as the Bishops topped the Irish.

Cassidy Campbell added 15 points for the Bishops (3-6) and Jewel Purpura finished with 14.

Emily LeMasters lead St. John Central with 20 points, while Marissa Rose and Jessica Alvey each had 13.

Beallsville 48, Cameron 44

At Cameron, Lane Bedford scored a game-high 20 points as the Blue Devils defeated the host Dragons.

Dicey Stewart added 14 for Beallsville (3-8).

Jenny Ashton led Cameron (3-4) with 10 points.

Indian Creek 42, Bellaire 34

At Wintersville, the Redskins (6-4) used their height to their advantage against a shorter Big Reds squad .

Bellaire (5-8) had no answer for Indian Creek's Bre Berryman and Kiarra Kamarec, who combined to score 38 points in the game. Berryman recorded a game-high 24 points, while Kamarec contributed 14 points.

Nina Crook contributed a team-high 22 points to lead the way offensively for the Big Reds. The sophomore was the lone Bellaire player to reach double digits in the game.

Both teams are scheduled to return to the court Monday on the road against Buckeye 8 opponents. Indian Creek is slated to travel to Buckeye Local, while Bellaire is scheduled to play at Union Local.

BOYS

St. John 72, Hundred 36

At Hundred, freshman Guy Pagano poured in 23 points to lead the visiting Irish past the Hornets.

The Irish jumped out to a 26-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back en route to their second victory of the season (2-7).

Garrett Holubeck added 16 points for St. John, while Jonathan Bossell added 10.

Holden Moore paced the Hornets with 14 points.
