BELLAIRE - St. John Central continued its late-season surge with a 77-59 win over visiting Buckeye Local Monday night in the consolation bracket of the Wheeling Hospital OVAC Girls' Basketball Championships.
Sophomores Marissa Rose (26) and Lindsey Froehlich (18) combined for 44 points to spark the Lady Irish, winners of five of their last six. Classmate Jessica Alvey enjoyed a superb all-around night with 8 points, 8 steals and 9 rebounds. Froehlich grabbed 12 boards for the winners. Frosh Taylor Lowe chipped in with nine counters for SJC.
Sophomore Becky Zeroski sparkled for the Lady Panthers, netting 21 points, including four treys. Lauren Swiger was superb support with 19 markers.
Buckeye won the reserve contest.
Cambridge 73, Union Local 51
CAMBRIDGE - Hallie Stocker poured in 21 points as Cambridge rolled past Union Local.
The Bobcats led 29-18 at halftime and 58-28 after three quarters.
Kiersten Taylor added 18 points for Cambridge (10-9), while Audrey Tingle scored 12 points and Abbey Seckman had 10.
Cori Medley paced the Jets (14-7) with 17 points, while Mikayla Patton had 13.
Buckeye Trail 53, Martins Ferry 22
OLD WASHINGTON - Allison Sichina scored 15 points and Alexis Williams added 10 as the Lady Warriors rolled past the visiting Purple Riders.
Sydney Bridges led Martins Ferry with 10 points and nine rebounds. Tyrah King had six.
Toronto 51, Bellaire 47
BELLAIRE - The visiting Red Knights outscored the hosts 32-12 in the middle two periods to collect the victory inside "The House of Champions."
Elisha Gillespie, Nina Crook and Aubrey Ryan all scored 10 points for the Big Reds (7-13). Kierstyn Kidder added nine.
