SHADYSIDE - Village council began Monday night's meeting with a moment of silence for Fire Captain John Davis, who died on Feb. 1.
"He was very involved with the fire department and will be missed by the village," Mayor Bob Newhart said.
In other business, Danny Popp with DDP and Associates talked with council about the upcoming plans for the Loop Project. Popp stated that he will be sending a notice to proceed with intent to the utilities that will be affected, which are AEP, AT&T and Comcast.
According to Popp, the project will begin at the north end of town (by the carry-out) and go down to the library. The project will include: new curbs, sidewalks, cross walks and asphalt. The people who will be affected most by this project will be those along Central Avenue.
Popp said that it should be begin this spring and will be done before winter.
"It will take at least three or four months," Popp said.
A pre-construction meeting will be held in the upcoming weeks.
Street Commissioner Jay Meek said that he ordered another load of cinders for the roads.
"Right now, we can't do anything with the holes at the north end of town, we will have to wait until there is a break in the weather," said Meek. "I need a 35 degree day."
Right now, the potholes are two to three inches deep and have caused drivers to go left ofcenter. Meek advised drivers to go slow.
Councilman Tim Merryman announced that there will be a Loop Festival committee meeting today at 5 p.m.
