VETANZE, Manuel M., "Socko," 98, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014, due to complications from pneumonia.
He has been residing in San Juan Capistrano, CA with his beloved daughter, Madeline and son-in-law, Nick since December of 2009.
Socko was born in Martins Ferry on May 30, 1915, a son of the late Ralph W. and Lena (Riccioni) Vetanze.
He was a retired machinist for Consolidated Aluminum. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary T. (Hodor) Vetanze; one brother, Candido Vetanze.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Nelson W. (Debbie) Vetanze, Aurora, CO.; daughter, Madeline (Nicholas) DiNapoli, San Juan Capistrano, CA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, 615 Hanover Street, Martins Ferry where friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tom Marut as the celebrant.
Mausoleum entombment St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Rosary devotions at 3 p.m. Friday followed by a wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
