He was born on June 20, 1961 in Martins Ferry, OH, to the late Alva "Howard" and Jennilee (Hess) Kinney Sr.
In addition to his parents, Alva was preceded in death by three sisters, June, Judy and Peggy Sue Kinney; a brother, Charles Kinney and a great-niece, Riya Heatherington.
Alva graduated from Buckeye West in 1979; operated a newspaper delivery route in the Harrisville and surrounding areas for many years; he was a Minister for several local churches; employed with Short Creek TWP for 25 years; a weather reporter for Harrisville; a member of the Harrisville V.F.D. for 38 years; a councilman of Harrisville for 25 years; a member of the Lions Club of Adena and the Colerain Ruratin Club.
Alva is survived by his wife, Debrah (Wallace) Kinney; one sister, Dorothy Heatherington and David Morris; two nephews, Scott and Steven Heatherington ; a niece, Marie Heatherington and three great-nieces, Madison, Savanna and Desjahh.
Friends will be received to pay tribute to Alva and celebrate his life on Monday, February 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Adena, OH. The Lions Club will have services at 7 p.m. and the Fire Department will follow with services at 7:30 p.m.
Friends will also be received on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. from the funeral home with Reverend Rusty Johnston and Reverend Barry Hall officiating.
Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.
