I would like to thank the Martins Ferry Civics and the parents for the opportunity to coach a great group of kids this basketball season.
It was a learning experience for me to coach kids so young. Most of the kids really did not know much about basketball or being part of a team, but every single one of those kids let me teach them how. The beginning of the season it was pretty much boys pass to boys and girls pass to girls. As the season progressed so did our team. We started playing team ball. Every game we seen improvements, but kept losing. Those eight kids did not give up on me and I did not give up on them.
We kept fighting and finally the last game of the season we WON. It was like being in the movies. As the final seconds ticked off the clock I was the happiest coach ever. I felt like we won the NBA championship. They was even happier than me. Rightfully so, they put in so much work to get better and they deserved that win. I am proud to have coached those kids and would pick those same eight kids again without hesitation! There was some great teams and all deserved to win. Once again thanks!
