BURKHEAD, Heath Robert, 37, of Glencoe, OH, formerly of Hendrysburg, OH, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at his home.
He was born on January 10, 1977, in Wheeling, WV, to Glen "Eric" and Marilyn Sue (Johnson) Burkhead, Jr.
Heath was a 1995 graduate of Barnesville High School and later graduated from the Police Academy. He went on to serve as Police Chief of Flushing, Monroe and Belmont County Sheriffs Office, a school resource officer, and finally as a prison guard at Belmont Correctional Institute. He also worked for the Wheeling Childrens Home and Kirkwood Township. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was very proud of his latest deer kill, "Heart Attack." He was a Mason in Kirkwood Lodge 446.
He was preceded in death by paternal grand parents, Glen and Edith Burkhead, Sr., and maternal grandparents, William Robert and Julia Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Glen "Eric" and Marilyn Sue (Johnson) Burkhead, Jr. of Hendrysburg, he is survived by a daughter, Samantha Nichole (Derek Hess) Burkhead, of St. Clairsville; son, Hayden Skylar James Burkhead, of Woodsfield; brother, Glen Eric Burkhead, III, of Hendrysburg; and a grandson, Kaden Michael Hess.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut St., Barnesville, OH, where services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Hendrysburg, Ohio. Masonic Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
