BOBER, John S., 89, of Flushing, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in Bishop Hodges Continuous Care Center, Wheeling Hospital.
He was born on August 13, 1924, in Flushing, a son of the late William A. and Mary Z. Gach Bober.
John was a graduate of Flushing High School and retired from Consolidation Coal Co. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Flushing, and the Flushing American Legion, Post 366. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was one son, Kenneth J. Bober.
Surviving are his wife, Winifred J. Soltis Bober; sons, David M. Bober of Flushing; Johnny W. (Abbie) Bober, Berlin, Heights, OH; Bruce E. Bober, Pataskala, daughters, Sharyn B. Smith (Mike), Apopka, FL., Janice M. Snyder, (Moe), Flushing, Marianne Fraley (Darrell), Belmont; Michele M. Bober, Flushing; two sisters: Elizabeth L. McMath, Altamonte Springs, FL; Blanche J. Shepherd, Frazeysburg, OH six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Warren Funeral Home, Flushing, Wednesday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Rev. Fredrick Kihm the celebrant. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church; Box 45; Flushing, OH, 43977. Vigil Service will be at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by American Legion Services at 7 p.m.
