WHEELING - It was business as usual for Travis "The Terror" Clark Saturday night inside WesBanco Arena.
The Morristown native needed just 1-minute, 50-seconds of the first round to dispatch Martinsburg's Rocky Burch in what was scheduled to be a 4-round professional heavyweight boxing match.
"I wanted to go in there and take care of business, and that's pretty much what I did," Clark, now 7-0, explained. "The quicker you get in and out, the less chance of something bad happening.
"I hit him with a body shot and then a hook," Clark added. "he didn't want anymore after that."
Indeed Burch didn't.
The body shot took its toll, while the hook sent the former Martinsburg Toughman champion to one knee. He waved his gloves to the referee, who wisely stopped the fight.
"The body shot caught him good and the hook got him on the way down," Clark recalled. "That kind of surprised me because he really came out strong. He came at me like a toughman instead of being patient like most professionals."
Clark said there are some big things coming up in his career within the couple of weeks.
"The Times Leader will definitely be the first to know," he said. Bigger things are coming really soon. That's all I can say for now."
