Solovan hears cases, grants many continuances

ST. CLAIRSVILLE Several cases were heard and numerous continuances granted during Friday's session of Belmont County Common Pleas Court. Judge John M. Solovan II presided.

Ian Thomas Jarrell, 27, 618 Howard St., Bridgeport, saw his case continued. He is accused of one count of causing the death of a child, one count abuse of a child, a felony of the second degree, one count causing the death of a child as a result of committing a felony of the first or second degree, and one count administering excessive corporal punishment. The crime allegedly took place Oct. 1, 2013.

His status conference was set for April 25. A motion hearing, plea agreement deadline and trial date will then be set.

Michelle Lynn Bell, 39, 67145 Kirkwood Heights, Bridgeport, pleaded guilty to one count attempted fleeing and eluding, a felony of the fourth degree occurring Aug. 16, 2013. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Sentencing will take place May 9.

Patrick Shawn Conseen, 29, incarcerated, admitted to violating his probation by testing positive for drugs. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for 10 days served. He will enroll in counseling. He was originally sentenced for theft and safecracking, crimes occurring Oct. 16, 2012.
