As with most any baseball baseball team, pitching is the straw that stirs the drink.
Such is the case with the Shadyside Tigers this spring.
''This year's team will be very young, but could be very good if the young arms come around around,'' said Mike Meintel, entering his sixth season as head coach.

''I'm expecting a big year this year from Zack Frizzi, Tre Myers and Austin Dorris.''
Meintel calls Frizzi, his junior lefty, the ace of the staff.
Dorris, a junior righty, will split time between the diamond and the track.
''He will pitch one game a week,'' Meintel explained.
Travis Fulton, another junior, will hold the third spot in the rotation, while Myers, a junior righthander, will be the closer.
''Sophomore Cole Crow and freshmen Billy Johnson and Colin Hunter will also see innings.''
Myers is also a candidate behind the plate along with freshman Dalton Palmer and Josh McFarland.
In the mix at first base are Colton Campbell, senior Zach Meadows, Eli Karkowski and Jake Greagon.
Freshmen Will Brown and Dalton Palmer are vying for the job at second base, along with Jacob Lennox.
Luke Nardo and McFarland are battling at third base, while Cole Crow is at short.
In the mix in the outfield are - Meadows, Dorris, Frizzi, Fulton, Johnson, Palmer, Brown, sophomores Chad Snyder and Steven Doughty, and freshman Colon Hunter.
''We have a very challenging schedule,'' Meintel said.
''We will be playing a very good Bellaire team up at Consol Energy Park on April 3 at 7 p.m.''
Meintel is assisted by Perry Nardo, BA Holloway, Mike Coyne and John Stotlemyer.
