He was born at Pipe Creek, Ohio on November 22, 1930, son of the late Russell and Mary Whitlatch.
William was a retired electrician from North American Coal Co. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church; a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of Shadyside Lodge #724 F.&A.M., Osiris Shrine in Wheeling, Captina Chapter #489 O.E.S. and American Legion Post #521 in Shadyside.
He is survived by his loving wife, Waunita Vostatek Whitlatch; two daughters, Jeri Lynn Stone of Jacksonville, Florida and Mary Ellen Beatley of New Albany, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jake Beatley and Sierra Stone.
A Memorial Service will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday at 1 p.m., with Rev. Randy Weaver officiating.
Full Military Honors will be conducted Monday at 12:45 p.m. by the Belmont County Council of American Legions with Masonic Funeral Services to follow.
