The Mt. Pleasant Garden Club met May 5 at the home of Annette and Wayne Butler.
Janie Elliott, president, called the meeting to order. A spring poem was read by Elliott. For the perennial of the month, Annette Butler gave a presentation about the hostas.
The club was invited to attend the Dillonvale Rosebud Garden Club open meeting May 8. Several members attended their meeting.
The annual Region 12 Horticultural Day was held May 22 at the Moorefield Community Center.
There will be a tour of Zoar Gardens Saturday, July 21, open to all members.
The June meeting will be with the Belmont County Master Gardener's Plant Swap held at the St. Clairsville Memorial Park on June 3 (notice this is a Tuesday, not the regular Monday meeting night).
On Saturday, July 28 there will be a Region 12 Garden Tour of members' gardens. More information will be coming concerning time and gardens.
The club will be planting flowers at the historical buildings in Mt. Pleasant. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The Jefferson County Fair Flower Show will be Aug. 16 and 17.
An open meeting for Aug. 4 at the Seeds of Hope is being planned.
The program for the evening was an auction with Nina Sutherland as auctioneer. A great time was enjoyed by all and Sutherland did a fantastic job. The evening closed with Butler serving a delightful lunch.
The club extends an invitation to any interested person or persons to come to the meetings at any time.
Garden Hint: To attract hummingbirds, plant nectar-rich flowers and fill feeders with sugar water - a mixture of 4 parts water to 1 part sugar.
