WHEELING - A few years ago, Jeffery Smith was a regular around the racing circuit.
An injury to his foot did away with that.
Three years later, he's back at it.
While the St. Clairsville native noted he's only at about 95 percent, it was enough to win the 5K walk at the 38th annual Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic. Smith's winning time of 30:20.89 was just under three minutes faster than Sherri Alig, who finished second overall and was the first woman to finish.
Before his injury, Smith said he would normally do 15 to 20 5Ks a year.
Saturday morning was the first time he walked it.
Shadyside's Tana Cline finished second on the women's side with a time of 36:06.30.
St. Clairsville's Joe Callarik finished third with a time of 35:02.22.
