Blaine native and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Emile DeLeau, Jr., was honored during a ceremony on Friday when a new plaque marking his grave at Linwood Cemetery in Blaine was unveiled. DeLeau was posthumously awarded the Medal Honor for his bravery and action during a battle in France on Feb. 2, 1945 during World War II. He personally attacked and eliminated four German machine gun emplacements before being mortally wounded by the fifth. Pictured are Bob Farmer and Pat Kovacs of the Belmont County Veterans’ Association removing the flag
covering from the marker. They presented the flag to DeLeau’s niece, Janet Kensey.
